About Workshop

  • This intensive 1-day workshop provides learners with comprehensive knowledge of the Madras Hedgehog (Paraechinus nudiventris), a lesser-known insectivore endemic to India, covering its taxonomy, ecology, behavior, and conservation challenges.
  • Through interactive lectures, hands-on demonstrations of field research techniques, and collaborative activities, students will explore current threats facing hedgehog populations and learn cutting-edge research methodologies including camera trapping, telemetry and genetic studies.
  • Participants will develop practical conservation skills by creating research proposals and engaging with experts, fostering a deeper understanding of small mammal conservation in India's changing landscapes.
  • This workshop is a goal-oriented conservation action program for young students from biology background.
